San Diego is my happy place! I love the beach, the beautiful views, how much there is to explore, the food, the weather- just everything! We just spent our second Christmas in a row in San Diego and I loved it just as much as last year.
We had such a great visit last December that there were definitely some things we knew we wanted to do again, but we also wanted to do our best to try some new things as well. When we asked the boys what they wanted to do again this year, Black’s Beach was at the top of their list. And it did not disappoint. The views from the top of the cliff are incredible and we loved watching dolphins from the top and exploring the crevices. Then I dropped David and the Boys at the top of Ho Chi Minh trail (I did this trail with the boys last year and it was way to much scrambling for me) but they were excited about a boys trip down to Black’s Beach and then a 3ish mile walk along the beach to meet me at La Jolla Beach.
We also hit the tide pools a couple of times- another highlight from our trip last year that we all wanted to do again this year. We think we found an octopus at one of the tidepools and we definitely found so many sea stars, hermit crabs and anemones at another tide pool.
Legoland made the list again this year as well! It’s not my favorite place to go but I know we don’t have too much more time until the boys have outgrown it and they loved it so much. We had fun riding the rollercoasters, trading minifigures, collecting pop badges and building our own Lego creations.
We spent the rest of our time at the beach! A couple of days were a little dreary and overcast, but that meant we got the beach mostly to ourselves! Our last day was sunshine and the beach was way more crowded than it had been the rest of our trip. Still great but it made us thankful for the quiet days we were able to enjoy.
We all love San Diego and can’t wait until we can go back!
