Granada, Spain

In between our short stays in Málaga, we spent about 10 days in Granada. We loved our time there. We stayed in the Albaicín neighborhood, this beautiful neighborhood tucked up on the hillside of Granada. It was up above the city, which was a little difficult when it was time to head home, but the historic buildings and narrow cobblestone streets made it feel special.

We spent a day exploring the Alhambra—there were times the boys had a hard time staying engaged but the intricate tilework, carved ceilings and views overlooking the city were just incredible.
David wasn’t feeling great on the day we had an excursion planned so the boys and I went to the Cuevas de Nerja by ourselves. They are these amazing caves found close to the Mediterranean Sea. We enjoyed exploring them and then had lunch at a chiringuito before spending some time playing on the beach.
One of our favorite adventures was hiking Los Cahorros, just outside the city. It was this beautiful trail that wound alongside cliffs and a river with suspension bridges connecting each side. We also had dinner one night in an actual cave restaurant—and somehow Hayes lost a tooth in the middle of dinner there! We spent a whole day exploring Parque de las Ciencias, a science museum so good we could have easily spent another day there.
We ate plenty of churros con chocolate, tried snails (some of us liked them more than others) and enjoyed lots of pastries and other sweet treats. Granada was full of so many great adventures. Our time there went by way too quickly but we really loved all of our time there.
